So for today’s ‘daily art’ piece I was feeling a little bit ninja-ish. Let’s face it, ninjas are just cool…I don’t know any guy growing up that didn’t want to be one.

This actually took me back to high school, where I would relentlessly doodle on my covered textbooks…not sure if kids are required to do this nowadays but it seemed to me that most of my educational experience up to high school was a string of getting books covered - usually by newspaper or grocery store bags (a hot look)…anywho, I remember constantly drawing ninjas on my textbooks. Ahhh the salad days.

Literal Art: The Rolling Stones

So to keep my skills sharp, I decided to start a new art project that I have dubbed ‘Literal Art’.

The idea is pretty simple..I take a bands’ name and translate it visually - using more of the “literal” translation of their band name. Using a minimal amount of colors.

I’m kicking it off with an oldie but goodie - The Stones.

I think it’s going to be a fun project that I hope amuses others. If you have any requests or suggestions, submit it as a comment. Enjoy.

Star Wars meets Lincoln

Always looking for inspiration, I scan alot of art / design sites and am constantly in awe at the talent out there, so why not pass it on to others.

This week I accidentally but fortunately stumbled upon this gem. The best way to describe it is the way it processed in my head - Storm-Trooper meets Lincoln. I love when a known and iconic image such as one of Lincoln, is flipped on its head to produce something familiar yet alien. And lets face it, anything with a Storm-Trooper quadruples its coolness factor.

While perusing my daily blogs I came across something extremely cool…artist Benedict Radcliffe recently parked his wire frame sculpture of a Subaru Impreza outside a gallery in London. As you can see from the picture (courtesy of Kosmograd.com), its literally like looks like a blueprint come to life.
